Jewelry and symbols on the Andean route
The exhibition offers a selection of jewelry and pieces of artistic goldwork from designers Nuria Carulla (Colombia), Hugo Celi (Ecuador), Álvaro Carreño (Peru), Ursi Galletti (Venezuela) and Taller Acantos (Bolivia)
Jewelry and symbols on the Andean route is the name of this exhibition which presents the work of jewelry designers from five Andean countries in a selection that reflects the renewal of this artistic discipline and deepens its connection with pre-Columbian heritage, but not forgetting the aesthetic content of the works and their ornamental quality for individuals in the contemporary context.
Ana Mercedes Botero, head of the CAF Office of External Relations, said: "This show reaffirms CAF’s effort to support and disseminate Latin American art. The CAF Gallery showcases the multifaceted artistic nature of the Corporation’s shareholder countries, with exhibitions that range from the most genuine expressions of popular creativity to the most elaborate creations of Ibero-American artistic genius." With thsi event, the gallery pays homage to important plastic artists of the stature of Oswaldo Vigas, Francisco Narváez, Enrique Grau and Alfredo Boulton, and other maestros such as Edgar Negret, Víctor Valera, Ángel Hurtado and Oscar Pantoja.
The creativity of the Andean region in gold craftwork is reflected in the creative passion and dedication of gold craft workers: Nuria Carulla, in her search for jewelry with identity in Colombia; Ursi Galletti, who concentrates on the forms of the seal of the Panare indigenous people in Venezuela; Hugo Celi, who forms a syncretism between the ancestral forms of Ecuador with modern aesthetic forms; the Peruvian Álvaro Carreño Alvarado, in his use of Incan art with new languages; and in the Acanto artisan workshop which transforms ethnic jewelry into a Bolivian treasure.
Complementing the exhibition, the CAF gallery will be the meeting point for three of the invited artists who will give a one-hour live demonstration of their talent by creating gold jewelry and pieces on site. On Friday June 15, Hugo Celi from Ecuador will delight us with his work. On Sunday June 17 it will be the turn of Álvaro Carreño of Peru, and Sunday July 1, we will see Ursi Galletti of Venezuela in action. Demonstrations begin at 12 noon.

Jewelry and symbols on the Andean route will be open to the public from June 14 to August 15, at the following times:
Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Sunday: 11:00 am to 3 pm.
