Over 2,400 leaders graduate in Venezuela
December 01, 2009
- The third Leadership for the Transformation Program ends in Venezuela
- Over 14,000 leaders have now graduated in the region
(Caracas, December 1, 2009).- With the idea of strengthening
vision of country and civic-democratic values in natural leaders
through a training process, CAF has been executing its Leadership
for the Transformation Program which has trained over 14,400
leaders in the region.
The closure of the third program in Venezuela took place recently, in alliance with the University Institute of Management and Technology. On this occasion over 566 leaders graduated from 50 municipalities in the Capital District, Vargas, Miranda, Guárico, Aragua, and Falcón. The participants were given training to strengthen their capacities in areas such as negotiation, management and conflict resolution, human rights and democracy, governance, citizen participation, public management and environment, in the context of knowledge and awareness of Venezuelan reality.
The purpose of the program is to identify potential leaders in the region and lay the base for a new style of leadership, enriching their value systems and equipping them with tools for assuming their future leadership responsibilities with a deep civic, democratic and ethical sense.
Conceived on the fundamental principle of the balance which should exist between all the sectors which form a nation: public, private and society, the program aims to overcome existing limitations, make way for new generations and strengthen democratic values in society.
Leadership for Transformation is a program promoted by CAF in the five Andean countries and until 2009 had trained a total of 14,411 leaders from 2,186 municipalities in the region. The training, which takes place over six months, is based on three aspects: individual, collective and public, aiming for balance between State and community under the principles of inter-culturality, social and gender equity, and the environment.
