US$50 million loan approved for Road Network Nº 4
- The financing was granted to Sociedad Concesionaria Autopista del Norte SAC
CAF President & CEO Enrique García said the credit operation was in response to the multilateral development bank’s strategy of supporting public-private partnerships in Peru, in this case a major section of highway which will improve traffic fluidity and road safety for travelers and transport across the area.
García said that, on the advice of BCP Banco de Crédio and CAF, the important US$150 million operation was structured with the participation of a multilateral organization: CAF; a local bank: BCP; and a foreign bank Calyon, each contributing US$50 million.
" This project will provide the local population with improved land communications based on the objective of optimizing the transport networks given the increase in traffic, tourism and transport of products, which is taking place along the central coast and north of the country," he added.
The agreements for the credit operation were signed by Eleonora Silva Pardo, CAF director representative in Peru; José María López de Fuentes, director of OHL Concesiones; Jaime Crosby Robinson, general manager of Autopista del Norte-Grupo OHL; and by representatives of BCP and Calyon. The signing was also attended, as witness of honor, by Peter Vonk, CAF vice president of corporate finance and investment banking
During the first quarter of 2009, the Peruvian Ministry of Transport and Communications granted to Sociedad Concesionaria Autopista del Norte SAC the concession of Road Network N°4 (Pativilca - Casma - Chimbote - Trujillo) which comprises a section of 356 km.
Autopista del Norte is a subsidiary of OHL SA, one of the largest Spanish construction and service groups with over 90 years experience in Spain and outstanding international presence in 16 countries on four continents. The main business lines of the OHL Group are infrastructure construction and concessions; in recent years, the company has successfully entered sectors with great potential growth related to these activities, such as environmental and urban services, infrastructure and social infrastructure.
