Enrique García, CAF President & CEO, recognized with Lifetime Achievement Award
- During the fourth annual Americas Competitiveness Forum, prizes for excellence in public service were awarded to outstanding personalities of the region for their contribution in the areas of economic development, poverty reduction, and environmental sustainability, among others.
- Special recognition was granted to the work of Enrique García for his contribution to the economic and social development of the Latin American region throughout his international public career for the benefit and strengthening of the countries of the hemisphere.
As part of the event, the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and CIFAL Atlanta, presented the America Awards for Excellence in Public Service. These prizes recognize and motivate international, national and local public officials who have successfully implemented programs which have contributed significantly to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of the UN Development Program.
At the ceremony, CAF President & CEO Enrique García received the Special "Lifetime Achievement Award 2010" in recognition of his outstanding record and clear contribution to the economic and social development of Latin America, in his international and national public career, both in his own country, Bolivia, and in CAF and other international organizations.
The Forum attracted over 1,400 personalities, high-level government officials and business leaders from 34 countries of the region to meet and share experiences and hear the view of experts on how to improve conditions for competitiveness in the countries of Latin America, a region which, although it has successfully overcome the impact of the global crisis, requires major structural changes in order to move toward more competitive growth in the global context.

CAF, JICA and Sicredi join forces to support women and rural producer
The amount represents the largest international facility ever undertaken by Sicredi, with the involvement of four internationally renowned entities: Banco Finantia, BNP Paribas, Eco.business Fund, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). The funds raised can also be used in regions with a Human Development Index below the national average.
CAF-FAO: Digitization project for agribusiness with repository launch
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean-, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries and the Tobago House of Assembly celebrated the successful completion of the “Digitization and Innovation for the Competitiveness and Sustainability of the Agribusiness Sector in Trinidad and Tobago” project. The closing ceremony, that took place on the 29th of July, marked a significant milestone in the country's efforts to modernize and enhance the agricultural sector.
