The Forum organized by CAF and Unitar in Tokyo offered a platform for dialogue between Japan and Latin America
- Latin American authorities were familiarized with the Japanese experience in the area of public policies geared to efficient environmental management without prejudicing industrial development.
- CAF offered support to Latin American ministers in developing policies and strategies which contribute to sustainable development in areas of clean production, mitigation of climate change, adaptation, efficiency and use of renewable energies, as well as technology development and transfer.
During the event, Enrique García, president & CEO of CAF – promoter of the organization of this first Forum, stressed the importance of having been able to build a platform for dialogue on a sustainable industrial policy where the Japanese authorities presented their knowledge, technology and experience to the Latin American representatives.
García offered the Latin American authorities CAF’s support for developing policies and strategies that contribute to sustainable development in areas of clean production, mitigation of climate change, adaptation, efficiency and use of renewable energies, as well as technology development and transfer, for regional industrial development in terms compatible with care and respect for the environment.
Latin America-Japan Relations
CAF and Unitar received the cooperation of the Japanese ministries of Foreign Affairs, Environment, Economy, Trade and Industry, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and the ambassadors in Tokyo of the Group of Latin America and Caribbean (GRULAC) for holding the Forum.
The event was the first of a series of annual meetings to be organized by the two institutions which CAF hopes will strengthen existing relations and open new areas for creation of work networks and detection of opportunities for cooperation, thus deepening its integrationist and articulating role between countries.

The amount represents the largest international facility ever undertaken by Sicredi, with the involvement of four internationally renowned entities: Banco Finantia, BNP Paribas, Eco.business Fund, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). The funds raised can also be used in regions with a Human Development Index below the national average.
CAF-FAO: Digitization project for agribusiness with repository launch
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean-, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries and the Tobago House of Assembly celebrated the successful completion of the “Digitization and Innovation for the Competitiveness and Sustainability of the Agribusiness Sector in Trinidad and Tobago” project. The closing ceremony, that took place on the 29th of July, marked a significant milestone in the country's efforts to modernize and enhance the agricultural sector.
