CAF president participates in XIII Summit of the Tuxtla Dialogue and Consensus Mechanism
"We are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Tuxtla Mechanism and the 10th anniversary of the Mesoamerica Project, and the important achievements in this area for the benefit of the region. We reaffirm CAF’s firm commitment to continue actively participating in regional integration processes, sharing the knowledge and experience accumulated during over four decades of working for the sustainable development of Latin America."
The Summit was attended by presidents Álvaro Colom (Guatemala), José Porfirio Lobo (Honduras), Felipe Calderón (Mexico), Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua), Ricardo Martinelli (Panama), Leonel Fernández (Dominican Republic), and Sebastián Piñera (Chile) as observer.
The objective of the Tuxtla Mechanism is to deepen dialogue and the integration of the Mesoamerican countries: Belize, Costa Rica, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic.
CAF has been actively involved in this integration effort since 2001 as a member of the Interinstitutional Technical Group and the Promotion and Financing Commission set up by the Mesoamerican presidents to provide technical and financial support to the Project, and joins in the commitment to the integration and development of the Mesoamerican peoples in the areas of infrastructure, interconnectivity and social development.

The amount represents the largest international facility ever undertaken by Sicredi, with the involvement of four internationally renowned entities: Banco Finantia, BNP Paribas, Eco.business Fund, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean-, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries and the Tobago House of Assembly celebrated the successful completion of the “Digitization and Innovation for the Competitiveness and Sustainability of the Agribusiness Sector in Trinidad and Tobago” project.
