CAF approves US$50 million for modernization of Eldorado airport
"We are very pleased to finance a priority project for Bogota and the country. The capital’s existing airport has been in operation for over 50 years and in 2010 had the third highest volume of passengers among Latin American airports, nearing saturation level," CAF representative director in Colombia, Víctor Traverso, said.
The long-term credit granted by the financial institution will be used for modernization, expansion, management, operation, maintenance and commercial exploitation of Bogota Eldorado Airport, including demolition of the terminal and construction of a new unified terminal.
After completion, the new terminal will have an area of 150,000 square meters, almost 14,000 square meters of six-lane overpasses, close to 15,000 square feet of additional voluntary works, and 33 boarding docks, among other features.
OPAIN SA is a company formed to manage, modernize, develop commercially, expand, operate and maintain the Eldorado International Airport.
