CAF displays young perspectives on architecture in Artespacio
Also on view at the art gallery of CAF –development bank of Latin America– are the work and projects of independent architect Mario Ibáñez and groups G/CdR Arquitectos, Colectivo Pendiente 45 and XIOZ [a.d.i.].
Each of these projects reflects the evolution of architecture in Bolivia and shows, through materials and shapes, the personal visions of each exhibitor. Creators present historical and social spaces recovery processes, predetermined spaces adaptations as well as research and experimentation spaces.
New architects
XIOZ [a.d.i.], formed by three architects, is strongly inclined towards architectural research and experimentation. The group seeks to generate a shapes and materials lab, building residences, office spaces, furniture and accessories with its own style.
G/CdR Arquitectos was founded by the two architects who designed Simón Bolívar University’s campus in Sucre, a project for which they won the Biennial Architecture Prize in 2010, representing the nation in a book published the Venice Architecture Biennale.
Colectivo Pendiente 45 is made up of five architects who graduated from Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA). They have a strong bias for the materiality concept. One of their noted projects is the Bicentennial Square –executed by the La Paz Municipal Government (GAMLP)– to commemorate the independence bicentennial. Currently the group works in the design of what will become La Paz’s Bus Stops.
Mario Ibáñez is a plastic artist and realist drawer. He teaches drawing at the Fine Arts Academy and Faculty in La Paz. In architecture, he is known for his finish, definitions and terminations project at UMSA’s Fine Arts Faculty, which was concluded with excellent results.
The architecture exhibition is open to the public through Oct. 5 at Artespacio CAF, on Av. Arce Nº 2915 (San Jorge). Admission is free.
