CAF makes donation to Panama for victim assistance, emergency response

(Panama, Nov. 30, 2012).- The president of CAF –development bank of Latin America– Enrique García, announced the approval of an immediate donation of $50,000 to support the Panamanian government in its assistance to victims of heavy rains and to help it cope with significant infrastructure damage in the affected areas.
“We at CAF wish to express our solidarity with the Panamanian people due to the loss of life and significant damage caused by this natural disaster,” García said.
In addition, CAF has extended a $100 million credit line to Panama to ensure a timely response to emergencies of this nature.
“This [credit] line was created due to the growing number of natural disasters in Latin America and the Caribbean, with social, environmental and economic consequences that have had a severe impact in several countries in the region,” García said.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean-, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries and the Tobago House of Assembly celebrated the successful completion of the “Digitization and Innovation for the Competitiveness and Sustainability of the Agribusiness Sector in Trinidad and Tobago” project.
