Management upgrades will improve services for citizens in Ecuador
January 25, 2013
CAF and the Ibarra county government signed an agreement to
improve services for local citizens.
(Quito, Jan. 2013).- CAF -development bank of Latin America-
and the autonomous government of the San Miguel de Ibarra county
signed an agreement for the creation of an integrated system of
municipal management, in order to improve services for citizens.
Prior to this agreement, the Ibarra government took part in the Regional Program for Updating and Improving Local Management (PRAMEG, by its acronym in Spanish) carried out by CAF, with the goal of strengthening governance and institutions in the region.
According to Hermann Krützfeldt, CAF country director in Ecuador, "the strategic value of this agreement is the modernization process under way in the Ibarra county, which through institutional and organizational improvements with new information and communication technologies (ICT) will help every citizen to have access to efficient and fair attention."
Thanks to the creation of a municipal management integrated system in the Ibarra county, processes and procedures will undergo acomplete overhaul, with the filing and automation of every step, the creation of a single service desk for citizens, and the addition of new ICTs for municipal management.
The system is fundamental for process integration on the same technological platform, for efficient and high-quality services for citizens, which in turn will improve the quality of municipal institutions.
This initiative by CAF is part of its commitment to improve the quality of services that local governments deliver , as well as to provide the necessary tools to optimize the management of those services, which results in concrete benefits for citizens and communities alike.
