Registration Opens for CAF Marathon—Caracas 2014 for 10,000 entries

CAF Marathon-Caracas 2014 is inviting athletes from Latin America and across the world to participate in its fourth marathon scheduled to take place on Feb. 23, 2014.
Those interested in participating can register online at maraton.caf.com starting June 1st.
(Caracas May 30, 2013) Starting this Saturday, June 1st the
registry will open for those wishing to enter the Fourth CAF
Marathon - Caracas, for Latin American integration, which will take
place in the Venezuelan capital on Feb. 23, 2014. Those wishing to
participate in the race can sign up online at maraton.caf.com.
The Fourth CAF Marathon will operate in two stages, a full marathon (42 kilometers) with space available for 3,000 contestants, and a half marathon (21-kilometers) open for 7,000 runners. Both routes have been certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) in 2012 and also endorsed by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), this certification is valid until 2017.
Early enrollment costs start at Bs. 470 (USD 75) and rise to BS. 630 (USD100) during a second entry stage before closing on Jan. 31 2014 or before the roster fills up.

Support for the event has been provided by the Venezuelan Athletics Federation, the Venezuelan Ministries of Sports, Interior Relations and Justice as well as the municipalities and states of Baruta, Caracas, Chacao and Sucre along with institutional partners eager to make this last Sunday of February an unforgettable sports event for Caracas.
Security will be tight thanks to the support of the Venezuelan Ministry of Interior Relations and Justice and the Ministry of Defense as well as the National Bolivarian Police and the National Institute of Transportation and Ground Transit. State and local police and fire departments from Baruta, Caracas, Sucre and Miranda and other civil protection agencies will provide added security support as well.

During the Third CAF Caracas Marathon, a record 8,100 athletes competed, with 5,826 running in the 21-kilometer race and another 2,307 running in the 42-kilometer race, half of which in both camps were competing in the event for the first time. Contestants from more than 30 countries participated, with finalists including runners from Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Mexico who demonstrated the strong and integrated presence Latin Americans displayed at the event.
