Adaptation and improvement of 33 kms. of roads for Monteria
A series of road re-structurings and works is on-going, to provide a more efficient use of public transportation that responds to the demand. The efforts will be carried out in infrastructure and public-private coordination.
The population that the re-structuring of the public transportation traditional scheme expects to serve exceed 250 thousand users, equivalent to the total demand of the city's demand for transportation.
The works, at their initial stage, include the improvement of 33.17 kms. of roads; adaptation of the public space, specially platforms, construction of pedestrian and vehicular bridges, and vehicular interchanges to speed up traffic and mitigate accidents in high risk crossings.
As part of the re-structuring, the construction of decentralized centers for public proceedings has been suggested, aimed at easing congestion in the city's center, which is the main destination of trips .A center to control traffic lights and the fleet will be included during the System's operation stage.
CAF finances USD 70 million for the implementation of the Strategic Public Transportation System in Monteria, connecting the private sector through the operation of at least two bus companies and one collector and technological integrator operator for the control and management systems.
