Everything ready for La Paz 3,600 10K
CAF organizes this sports event to promote getting closer to the population of La Paz. The race, with an investment of close to USD 100,000, will take place on October 27th. This competition has incorporated international best practices with respect to the technical and logistic characteristics. The first three competitors -females and males- in each category will receive cash prizes, and the absolute winners will participate in the CAF Marathon - Caracas 2014.
(La Paz, October 24, 2013). With important prizes and incentives for participants, everything is ready for the fifth version of the La Paz 3,600 10K race, organized by CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, in alliance with the La Paz Municipal Autonomous Government (GAMLP, for its acronym in Spanish), and the support of private enterprises. The race will be held on Sunday, October 27 starting at 7:00, promoting the care and responsible use of water.
Emilio Uquillas, Director Representative of the financial institution in Bolivia, informed of this, and pointed out that the three first racers in the four categories established, would obtain trophies and prizes of USD 300, USD 150 and USD 50, respectively, and the absolute winners (female and male) will represent the country in the CAF Marathon -Caracas 2014, to be held on February 24th in Venezuela, with all expenses paid.
In addition, 5,000 official T-shirts will be given at the start, 4,000 ecologic backpacks, and refreshments, medals for the first 3,600 who cross the finish line, and electronic chips to the first 3,600 who register.
Uquillas noted that "as it is already a characteristic of the race, we will have cheering groups in each kilometer, two water drinking points, medical attention at the finish line, and the enthusiasm that accompanies a sporting event that pays homage to the population of La Paz, bringing it closer to CAF, the municipality, and the private enterprise".
The categories in the La Paz 3,600 10K are: A (over 40 years old); B (20 to 40 years old); C (younger than 20 years old); and D (individuals with special needs - wheel chairs). It should be noted that athletes in wheel chairs will compete in a 5.5 kilometer race, and their finish line will be located in the Plaza España.
The sponsors of the competition are the Grupo Financiero BISA, Coca Cola, and AGB. Support is provided by the following companies: Tigo, Proyecto Huella Hídrica, Princesa, Imagenbol, Droguería INTI, Amaszonas and Gimnasio GO.
Innovations
The delivery of the racer kit -number and chip- will be carried out in a Fair which will be held on Friday the 25th, and Saturday the 26th of October, from 9:00 to 17:00 hours in the basement of the CAF building (Av. Arce Nº 2915, San Jorge), where detailed information will be given to the racers -professionals and amateurs-, products, sports articles, and other surprises such as an individual measuring of the water footprint, in order to create awareness among runners about how to take care of water.
At the same time, the race will have pacers who will set the pace for the runners that have a pre-established time goal. These pacers will be duly identified with times of 50, 60, and 70 minutes.
About the route
The race will start at the Plaza Villarroel (Miraflores), continuing on Av. Busch until it reaches the Plaza del Estadio Hernando Siles, following Av. Simón Bolívar, the streets Juan de la Riva, Mercado and Ayacucho, Av. 16 de julio (El Prado), Plaza del Estudiante, Av. 6 de agosto, Aspiazu, Av. Ecuador, Plaza España, Calle Presbitero Medina, Calle Ascarrunz, Av. Sánchez Lima, Plaza Abaroa, Pedro Salazar, Plaza Isabel la Católica, Puente de Las Américas, Plaza Triangular, Litoral, Villalobos, Av. Rene Zabaleta, and Puentes Trillizos (Independencia, Union and Libertad), where the competition will end.
