(Cali, November, 2013) In order to continue strengthening the social development of the vulnerable population of Buenaventura and the wellbeing of minors and adolescents in the area, CAF -Development Bank of Latin America-, the ICBF, and the Carvajal Foundation carried out two health workdays on November 30th and December 1st where minors were screened for weight and size, medical evaluations were carried out, sight and hearing were checked, and vaccinations were provided.
These health workdays were executed for the first time within the Somos program, and are the beginning of many more that will be carried out periodically for the minors of the area, in order to continue developing programs that contribute to the improvement of the quality of life and future development of Buenaventura.
In the framework of the health workdays, which are supported by the Casa de Colombia Foundation, the Health Secretariat of Buenaventura, and the Institute for Blind and Deaf Children, activities were carried out to exchange toys and shoes for Christmas cards made from recycled paper by boys, girls, adolescents, and their families.
The activity took place at the headquarters of the JAC in the Caldas neighborhood on November 30th, and at the headquarters of the parish of the Leras neighborhood on December 1st.
