Los Tiempos recognizes Enrique Garcia’s trajectory and contribution to the region
During the commemoration of the newspaper's 70th anniversary, CAF's Executive President, together with other Bolivian personalities, were distinguished by the main newspaper in Cochabamba, which happens to be one of the most important ones in the country.
(Cochabamba, December 19, 2013) In an emotional ceremony carried out in the Canelas Tardio residence, in the framework of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Los Tiempos newspaper, Editorial Canelas S.A. recognized Enrique Garcia, Executive President of CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, for his distinguished trajectory and his key support to the region and the country.
CAF's Executive President, chosen to say a few words in representation of those being honored, stated that he was deeply moved and honored, and stated "what we have in common (those of us being honored) is a firm commitment with the values and interests of the country". When referring to Los Tiempos, he highlighted the tradition and principles that guide the newspaper, such as respect for truth, freedom of expression, and human rights.
Among those honored, the former President of Bolivia and current Ambassador to Holland, Eduardo Rodriguez Veltze, stands out, together with former magistrate Pablo Dermizaky, engineers-geologists Karl Brockmann and Ramiro Suarez, economist Roberto Laserna, artists Gaston Paz and Melo Tomsich, journalist and historian Ramiro Peredo, transplant surgeon Juan Pablo Barrenechea, maestro Raymundo Grigoriu, and entrepreneur Francisca Dominguez de Cahuana.
Editorial Canelas made a special recognition to journalist Mirtha Sánchez de Fernandez, who worked in Los Tiempos since 1967 until her retirement from professional activities, and architect José Prada Montaño who, among other creations, constructed the Los Tiempos towers.
CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, has the mission of promoting sustainable development and regional integration through financing for projects in the public and private sectors, technical cooperation, and other specialized services. Created in 1970, and currently made up by 18 countries ‒16 from Latin America and the Caribbean, and Spain and Portugal‒ and 14 private banks, is one of the main sources of multilateral financing and an important generator of knowledge for the region.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean-, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries and the Tobago House of Assembly celebrated the successful completion of the “Digitization and Innovation for the Competitiveness and Sustainability of the Agribusiness Sector in Trinidad and Tobago” project.
