(Medellin, April 5th, 2014). Ad portas of the opening of the VII Urban World Forum, which will take place in Medellin from April 5th to 11th, 2014, CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, will start its participation with the presentation of the main achievements and challenges that governmental authorities face regarding the problems of climate change in cities, confirming the actions that the entity has been carrying out to promote sustainable development in the region, and the work developed in Colombia through the technical assistance program, to territorial entities, precursor of the Cities with a Future Program, implemented in several cities of Latin America.
Among the main activities that CAF will carry out is the presentation of the book, Construction of More Equitable Cities, which shows the general guidelines of the framework of actions that local governments should follow, and the challenges that Mayors, and local and regional authorities must face regarding social, economic, and environmental policies.
In addition, as part of the studies led by the entity with respect to the cities with a future, international experts, accompanied by local and international Mayors, such as the Mayors of Fortaleza, Quito, Zapopan, Lima, Guadalajara, and some cities of Colombia, will discuss the concept of Prosperous Cities with respect to how the cities must focus on developing political strategies that may help them advance in the six dimensions of prosperity: productivity, quality of life, equity, infrastructure, governance, and environmental sustainability, so that they may be more sustainable.
On Wednesday, April 9th, study cases will be presented, which highlight the critical role of cities as promoters of economic transformation through the networking Equity and Productive Transformation Policies in Africa, Asia, and Latin America: the role of the cities.
Thus, once again CAF confirms its work regarding conceptual and technical development through studies and analyses focused on support for the preparation of rigorous policies and actions for the development of sustainable cities.
