The XV Luisa Palacios Biennial of Graphic Miniatures 2014 was inaugurated at Galeria CAF
CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, and TAGA organized the XV Luisa Palacios Biennial of Graphic Miniatures, with works from over 100 artists from different American and European countries.
(Caracas, May 10th, 2014). Art is living proof of history and, through artistic expression, Latin America shows its identity to the world. In support of artistic dissemination in the region, CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, and the Workshop of Associated Graphic Artists (TAGA, for its acronym in Spanish), are organizing the XV Luisa Palacios Biennial of Graphic Miniatures in honor of Maria Bonomi and Luisa Richter. This exhibit will be inaugurated at Galeria CAF, located in Avenida Luis Roche in Altamira, Caracas.
The exhibit presents works from over 100 artists from different American and European countries who are dedicated to the art of engraving.
Each edition of the biennial pays tribute to masters who have made creative contributions to graphic art and, on this occasion, it honors the artistic career of Latin American masters of European descent, Maria Bonomi, and Luisa Richter.
Italian-born Maria Bonomi moved to Brazil in 1947. While working in the art of engraving she has explored techniques on wood, stone, clay, cement, and metal. During her career she has been recognized with the most important awards in this discipline.
German-born Luisa Richter moved to Venezuela in 1955. She is an abstract and informalist painter, engraver, and college professor; she also studied with Willi Baumeister, an advocator of abstractionism. On two occasions she received the National Award for Plastic Arts.
With this event, CAF and TAGA contribute to the dissemination and projection of the region's talent and identity. The objective of the alliance between both institutions is to promote spaces that strengthen the development and comprehensive education of human beings through creativity and artistic expression. The XV Luisa Palacios Biennial of Graphic Miniatures, in honor of Maria Bonomi and Luisa Richter, will open on May 11th, from Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sundays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Galeria CAF. Entry is free of charge.
