Ollanta Humala met with Enrique Garcia at the Government Palace
The objective of the meeting was to present the support provided by CAF to Peru, primarily in the promotion of the country's competitiveness, in the reduction of inequality gaps, and the lack of access to services by traditionally excluded social groups.
The President of the Republic of Peru, Ollanta Humala, met with Enrique Garcia, Executive President of CAF, Latin American Development Bank, in a private session at the Government Palace. The objective of the meeting was to present the support provided by the Institution to Peru, primarily in the promotion of the country's competitiveness, in the reduction of inequality gaps, and the lack of access to services by traditionally excluded social groups.
Garcia congratulated President Humala for the recent improvement in the rating of the sovereign debt granted to Peru by Moody's Agency, from "Baa2" to "A3". "There is no doubt that this represents a very important qualitative jump, two steps at a time in a complex international context, ratifying the caution and expertise shown by his government in macroeconomic management, particularly in strengthening the fiscal framework", he pointed out.
The Executive President of CAF indicated that the rating constitutes a vote of trust for the significant reforms promoted by President Humala's government, which show his political will to accelerate growth based on the attraction of greater investments in the productive sector in order to generate employment and sustainable development with social inclusion.
Garcia reiterated CAF's commitment to Peru, and highlighted the good conditions in the country due to its economic performance in the region, with sustained growth rates.
Luis Miguel Castilla, Minister of Economy and Finance, and Eleonora Silva Pardo, CAF's Director Representative in Peru also attended the meeting.
