Music to Grow Youth Orchestra Contest presents its second edition in Bolivia
Registrations will be accepted from September 1st to 30th, and any symphonic and string youth orchestra may participate from the nine departments in the country. Musicians must be under the age of 25
With the objective of motivating youth orchestras that promote the social inclusion of children and youths through musical learning of excellence, CAF-development bank of Latin America, the Federation of Private Entrepreneurs of Santa Cruz, the Ministry of Tourism and Bolivian Cultures and the Departamental Government of Santa Cruz presented the II Bolivian Youth Orchestra Contest, Music to Grow.
The contest is organized in the framework of the Music to Grow program CAF sponsors since the year 2000, which promotes the use of music as a tool for the comprehensive transformation of children and youths in the region.
This initiative is sponsored by the Banco Nacional de Bolivia, (National Bank of Bolivia, in Spanish), under the "gold" contribution category, as an institution committed to the development of youths and childhood. Other sponsors include the Ingenio Azucarero Guabirá, the Los Tajibos Hotel, and the Cámara de Industria, Comercio, Servicios y Turismo de Santa Cruz (CAINCO). The activity represents an opportunity to show the advances achieved with respect to social inclusion through music in Bolivia and seeks to create awareness among other public and private actors regarding the potential that musical learning has as a comprehensive training instrument and alternative for the use of free time.
In the first edition, carried out in 2013, the winners were the Tarija Departmental Symphonic Orchestra (symphonic category), and the San Jose de Chiquitos San Jose Patriarca Orchestra (string category).
The promotion of equal intellectual and social development through the creation of opportunities is an idea shared by the partners that make up the alliance between actors of the private sector, State, non-profit organizations, and CAF, which promote music as an alternative for the development of Bolivian children and youths.
The Santa Cruz Plurinational Culture Center, the Pro Art and Culture Association (APAC, for its Spanish acronym), i3 Impacto Social, CEDES Bolivia, and the newspaper El Deber will participate in this edition of the contest.
