Technical assistance for the institutional strengthening of the electricity sector in Venezuela
CAF approved a technical cooperation for the Ministry of Popular Power for Electric Energy, to develop a new management model that provides follow-up, evaluation, and control of policies and plans for the recently created Vice-Ministry of Finances, Investments, and Strategic Alliances
With the objective of achieving institutional strengthening at the Vice-Ministry of Finances, Investments, and Strategic Alliances of the Ministry of Popular Power for Electric Energy (MPPEE), CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, approved a technical cooperation to create a proposal for a management model that allows for the definition of organizational development in processes, norms, and procedures, and to present a proposal for information technology and institutional changes that support this new management model which will enable follow-ups, evaluations, and control of the financing policies and plans of the electricity sector.
Jesse Chacon Escamillo, Minister of the MPPEE and Luis Enrique Berrizbeitia, Executive Vice-President at CAF, signed the agreement in the presence of Henry Fernandez, Vice-Minister of Finances, Investments, and Strategic Alliances; Dalia Hernandez from New Sources and Rational Use of Electric Energy; Hamilton Moss, CAF´s Energy Vice- President; Alexis Gomez, CAF´s Director of Country Programs; and Mauricio Garron, Energy Senior Specialist.
Thus, CAF deepens its support to the Venezuelan electricity sector in the framework of promoting institutional synergies in the region to add to the efforts in the area of energy.
