Internet Governance
Coordination of all sectors would allow the population to have equal opportunities
Governance in internet, an ecosystem of different sectors, causes the network of networks to be a unique symbol, interoperable and accessible from everywhere in the world, as stated by Andrea Beccalli, Manager of Global Stakeholder Engagement. Despite the fact that in some countries there are very detailed frameworks for internet, there is no governance, and no discussion regarding it, or regarding key aspects such as right to privacy or liberty of expression.
These are challenges that together with access and control of the network are seen in Latin America and, according to Beccalli, are subjects which should be included in the public policies of each State. Thus, to improve the situation in the region's internet, he suggests three multi-stakeholder solutions. The economy of internet is estimated at 3 trillion dollars, making the network essential for the economies of our countries, as well as for our own lives "completely independent from the internet".
Antonio García Zaballos, professor of the IE Bussiness School, states that a model for internet governance will be one where the actors that have something to say in a digitalized manner, that is, education, health, finance, and public sector in general, must coordinate for one sole purpose: allow the population to have equal opportunities independently of whether they are in areas with or without connectivity, and if they have no connectivity, what to do to achieve it.
