Sixth edition of the La Paz 3600 10K
The competition brought together 10 thousand runners whose participation enabled an important donation aimed at the treatment of children with congenital heart disease. Sports and solidarity in the midst of a party characterized the event. The absolute winners were Claudia Villaba and Eiber Felipe Choque
The practice of sports and solidarity characterized the sixth edition of the traditional run La Paz 3600 10K, held in the streets and avenues of La Paz. The organization confirmed a donation of USD 10,000 for the treatment of children with heart disease, from the registration of 10,000 runners in the competition organized by CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, and the Autonomous Municipal Government of La Paz (GAMLP, for its acronym in Spanish).
Emilio Uquillas, CAF's Director Representative in Bolivia, stated,"We are extremely satisfied by the people's response. For the first time in six years, we have achieved the maximum foreseeable number of registrations, reaching 10,000 registered individuals. We are grateful for the response of the neighbors of La Paz; it seems that running for a cause that moves the solidarity of people is definitely a powerful tool to touch the hearts". He added that the in the next version another social cause will be supported, which will be announced in due time.
Uquillas pointed out that "CAF is called to praise the values of human beings, as that positively impacts people's attitudes; people with a winning mentality are the ones who make societies big".
The competition started at 8:00 at Plaza Villarroel, from where a yellow tide (for the official shirt) took the streets and avenues of the city.
The celebrations organized by the sponsoring firms installed at each kilometer of the route cheered and encouraged the runners and the cheering public. The presentation of the group Armadura, at plaza Avaroa, deserves a special mention. They were located at the competition's kilometer 6, called "KilometroRock", a proposal made by the main organizer of the event: CAF.
The participants also received water provided by Powerade and, when arriving to the finish line, a commemorative medal and a CAF backpack with a sports drink, a Princesa cereal bar, cookies, yoghurt, and a banana.
The absolute winners of the sixth version of the competition were Eiber Felipe Choque (C Category, younger than 20 years old), who covered the trajectory in 32 minutes and 48 seconds, and Caudia Villalba (B Category, between 20 and 40 years old), who concluded the race in 38 minutes and 45 seconds.
This year, in addition to the Grupo Financiero BISA, another important entrepreneurial group supported the initiative with brands such as Powerade and Princesa's Cereal Mix, as well as AGB, VIVA, Imagenbol, New Balance, Droguería INTI, Gimnasio GO and La Paz Bus.
