The project supports the management of solid residues in order to improve the quality of life of the population of Quito.
CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, and the Municipality of Quito's Metropolitan District, through the Environment Secretariat, signed a non-reimbursable technical cooperation agreement aimed at updating the Master Plan for the Comprehensive Management of Solid Residues in order to improve the quality of life of Quito's population.
Bernardo Requena, CAF's Director Representative in Ecuador, stated, "For CAF it is a priority to support plans focused on taking care of the environment. For this reason, on this occasion we are making a commitment to the Municipality of Quito's Metropolitan District which, through the Environment Secretariat, works to improve the comprehensive treatment of residues".
The implementation of this project expects that mergers will take place between existing public companies, the implementation of a public-private alliance will improve the management of the service, and to foresee the needs for the implementation of the new management model for Quito's solid residues.
