Training opportunities in "Leadership for Change" in Panama
Close to 400 staff from the Authority if the Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Companies will improve their technical, social, and operational skills
With the purpose of identifying and training natural leaders who are able to transform the political, social, and economic reality of Panama, CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, with the support of the Universidad Catolica Santa Maria La Antigua (USMA), started the first edition of the program "Leadership for Change" which will train 400 staff from the team of the Authority of the Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprise (Ampyme, for its acronym in Spanish).
The initiative seeks to improve the technical, social, and operational skills in the local, regional, and national sphere, with a focus on sustainability, equity, and gender. The participation of the staff in this first edition is a result of the agreement signed between Ampyme and the USMA.
The training process will last 10 months through 11 modules, and it is aimed at individuals between the ages of 18 and 50. Al the end of the course, participants will have the skills to build a new leadership, change the institutional reality, and execute plans that transform plans and projects into specific actions.
"Leadership for Change" started in Colombia in 2001, as a pilot exercise with 700 participants. To date, 27,000 leaders have been trained in Bolivia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela.
The inauguration of the course in Panama included the presence of Ada Romero, Minister of Ampyme and graduate of the "Leadership for Change" program; Carlos Voloj, President of the USMA and Susana Pinilla, CAF's Director Representative in Panama.
