17 thousand ideas that solve social problems
Identifying social entrepreneurship opportunities through an open innovation online platform which includes the participation of more than 300 thousand entrepreneurs, we bet on collective intelligence and crowdsourcing together with Socialab, (www.socialab.com) to find solutions to the large social problems that affect millions of people who are vulnerable in Latin America
Encouraging inclusive and sustainable business models with social impact, designed through a collaborative process, and online work with the private sector and the civil society, in a short period of time Socialab's call managed to bring 17 thousand ideas through the so called "challenges", such as "Ain´t no need, una economía inteligente e inclusiva" (http://socialab.com/desafios/ideas/413) and the "Innovaton" (http://socialab.com/ideas/ver/16176) recently held in Colombia and Chile with the support of IIS and CAF, dedicated to capture proposals in collaborative economy and productive employment for handicapped individuals.
The winning projects in these contests: "Lazaro X1", Thumbie", and Rehapp" in Chile, and "Cultivando Futuro", "Minkay", and "Doxa" in Colombia, have continued to the second phase of the Socialab program and are being incubated with seed capital. In this respect, it is important to highlight that to date, investment in startups has reached $ 1,686,869, impacting 520,314 individuals, which is equivalent to $3.24 per capita.
Throughout 2015, new open innovation contests will be called in Argentina, Colombia, Chile, and Uruguay, for issues dealing with alleviation of poverty, productive employment, and how to overcome inequality.
