A roadmap to promote Green micro and small companies in Panama
CAF, the National Authority for the Environment, and the Environmental Center ofr Environmental Events presented a publication Entrepreneurial MAnagement Model for Micro and Small Enterprises Based on green Businesses, suggesting guidelines for the development of value chains in sectors with potential such as asagriculture and ecostourism.
In order to promote the conservation of the natural and social capital through a green economy, CAF, development Bank of Latin America, the Autoridad Nacional de Ambiente (ANAM) (National Authority for the Environment), and the Centro de Incidencias Ambientales de Panamá (CIAM) (Panamanian Center for Environmental Events) supported the publication "The publication, which included the participation of more than 30 Panamanian institutions, suggests guidelines for the development of value chains in sectors identified as having potential, such as sustainable agriculture (crafts and organic agriculture) and ecotourism, focusing on environmental, social, and economic sustainability aspects.
Ligia Castro, Director of CAF's Environment and Climate Change Department, stated, "The promotion of green businesses in Panama seeks the conservation of biological resources and social inclusion; a fair and equitable distribution of benefits; the productive transformation from a comparative advantage to a competitive advantage, and the development of the natural capital".
The presentation of the book included the participation of Felix Wing Solis, General Secretary of ANAM; Susana Pinilla, CAF's Director Representative in Panama; Ligia Castro, Director of CAF's Environment and Climate Change Department; and Rene Gomez-Garcia, coordinator of CAF's Green Businesses Unit.
