632 Peruvian officials will be trained in Governance, Policy Management, and Public Management
Through the implementation of the Paideia educational platform, support will be provided to the teaching and learning processes for students participating in the decentralized branch offices
A total of 632 officials, between representatives of the public and private sectors, and leaders of organizations linked to the governmental entities of Arequipa, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huancayo, Lima, Tarapoto and Trujillo, are participating in the XIII Edition of the Governance, Policy Management, and Public Management Program promoted by CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, the Catholic University of Peru (PUCP, for its acronym in Spanish), and the Graduate School of the George Washington University (GSPM-GWU).
Eleonora Silva Pardo, CAF's Director Representative in Peru, stated that CAF implements initiatives that allow societies to develop socially and environmentally, such as the Lima Metro System, the North and South IIRSA Highways, and the Olmos, Majes-Siguas II and Chavimochic III irrigation projects financed by the financial institution.
She stated, "CAF is especially concerned for the sustainability of the projects, but also for the impact of the projects on the improvement of the quality of life in the cities and of their populations. CAF also considers that it is a priority to promote a democratic culture aimed at strengthening Latin Amerian societies to consolidate the region's comprehensive growth".
After stating that CAF is called to work in the field of governance by carrying out innovative activities that promote such values and principles, Silva Pardo highlighted that this program seeks to become a useful tool to strengthen the capacities related to governance, institutional framework, and public management.
In this respect, CAF's Director Representative in Peru highlighted that starting from this year, the PUCP will strengthen its virtual campus with the implementation of the Paideia educational platform, which is a tool to support the teaching and learning processes of participating students.
The inauguration cermeony included the presence of Carlos Alza, Director of the School of Government and Public Policies of the PUCP; Ismael Muñoz Portugal, Coordinator of the Governance and Policy Management Program of the PUCP; and Rolando Ames, academic from the PUCP, who gave a speech entitled "For quality governments despite the crisis of the democratic politics".
CAF's Governance, Policy Management, and Public Management program is held in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela, and has provided training for regional authorities, mayors, council members, departmental advisors, technical teams from the mayors' office, politicians, and leaders who work in organizations that work and support the management of local and regional governments.
The objective of the program is to contribute to the development of participation and negotiation capacities, management of communications, and construction of political, economic, and social feasibility.
