Freddy Bareiro Ends Training Project With Friendly Match
The project promotes self-esteem building and social integration through sports. The initiative is part of CAF’s SOMOS initiative and is sponsored by the Real Madrid Foundation
Freddy Bareiro, a forward in Paraguay’s Club Olimpia, partnered with the Real Itauguá sports school in closing a project to promote sports as a tool for education, development and social inclusion, benefiting 130 Paraguayan children and young people.
For 18 months the Real Itauguá sports school conducted trainings with tactical and technical training, pedagogical support and nutritional assistance workshops by launching sporting, recreational, social skills and educational activities.
During this period, children and young people were given tools to build their self-esteem and promote social integration by developing individual skills such as leadership and good social habits and principles such as respect, teamwork, and conflict resolution.
The project was sponsored by the Real Madrid Foundation and SOMOS - sports network for Latin American development, a CAF initiative.
The Real Itauguá sports school, which carried out the activities, is part of the Casa Virgen de Caacupé Association, an organization promoted by CESAL, a Spanish NGO.
From October 2013, the sports school has partnered with SOMOS, through which CAF—development bank of Latin America—and the Real Madrid Foundation have joined efforts to benefit 130 socially vulnerable children and young people.
