“Múltiples miradas, un territorio” (Multiple looks, one territory): an inclusion perspective in Latin America
CAF shows the scope of its social initiatives through an exhibition that uses photography as an instrument of social inclusion, showing the beneficiaries as creators and protagonists
CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, opens the doors to its art gallery to show pictures taken by more than 300 children, youths, and adults from Latin America, as a show of the beneficiaries of CAF's social interventions, where they become artists who offer an authentic view of the region's social transformation process. The participants are part of an introductory photography workshop which resulted in the exhibition of "Múltiples miradas, un territorio" (Multiple looks, one territory).
Enrique Garcia, Executive President of the Institution, commented, "With this exhibition we want to show a comprehensive perspective of what collective wellbeing means. For CAF, sustainable development and quality of life are two concepts which are inherent to the social sphere of Latin America. Both dimensions are a result of economic development, which is essential for comprehensive human progress, which increases as societies and individuals achieve more beneficial conditions".
The exhibition was in charge of Enrique Aular, film-maker and communicator for development and Peace Speaker for the United Nations, with the curatorship of Gaby Quero.
With this selection of photographs, CAF seeks to show the testimonial value of its protagonists by opening spaces to give visibility and a voice to Latin Americans who have benefitted from the Institution's permanent work and its initiatives in favor of social development in the region.
Thus, CAF, aware of the transforming power of art and its potential for the integration of Latin American culture, continues to be a permanent promoter of culture and art from its 19 member countries.
"Multiple looks, one territory" will be open until the end of August, 2015 at Galeria CAF, located in Avenida Luis Roche, Torre CAF, Altamira, from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
