Inauguration of the first Governance, Policy Management, and Public Management in Paraguay
The initiative, implemented by CAF in other countries of the region, will contribute to the development of participation and negotiation capacities, management of communications, and the construction of political, economic, and social feasibility of 109 Paraguayan officials.
A total of 109 officials, between representatives of the public and private sectors, as well as leaders from organizations of the civil society and municipal governments, participated in the I Edition of the Governance, Policy Management, and Public Management Program promoted by CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, the Universidad Columbia of Paraguay, and the Public Management Graduate School of the George Washington University (GSPM-GWU).
CAF's Director Representative in Paraguay, Fernando Infante, pointed out CAF's evolution throughout its 45 years of history, and highlighted the institution's support to the promotion of development in the Republic of Paraguay. In addition, he pointed out the importance of incorporating Paraguay to the "CAF Governance" community, a network coordinated by CAF's Direction of Institutional Development, which includes universities, teachers, students, and graduates from Latin America, which have been implementing the governance and leadership programs in the region for 15 years.
At the same time, Humberto Peralta, Minister for Public Functions, congratulated the authorities of the Universidad Columbia and CAF for promoting the Program. He highlighted the strategic importance of training men and women with a public service vocation to strengthen and support the country's growth and development process.
The inauguration ceremony included the presence of Javier Battilana Urbieta, President of the University, Roberto Elias Canese, Chancellor of the University, Estela Rojas, Post-Graduate Director General, Sebastian Acha, Program Coordinator, and Marisa Spina and Leandro Gorgal, representing CAF.
CAF's Governance, Policy Management, and Public Management Program, developed in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela, has trained regional authorities, mayors, council members, departmental advisors, municipal technical teams, politicians, and leaders of organizations which work and support the management of local and regional governments. The objective is to contribute to the development of participation and negotiation capacities, management of communications, and construction of political, economic, and social feasibility.
