CAF participated in the Presiding Officers Meeting of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean
Women's ministers and country representatives approved the commitment to promote a transformed cross-cutting gender perspective in all Sustainable Development Goals, which are expected to be approved in September by the United Nations
CAF-development bank of Latin America- participated in the fifty-second Presiding Officers Meeting of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Government of the Dominican Republic, and held on July 29 and 30 in Santo Domingo, wherein the institution presented its recently approved Institutional Guidelines on Gender Equality and various undertakings geared toward women in the region.
During the meeting, the representatives of countries, specialized agencies and multilateral organizations expressed their intent to carry out actions to implement not only the Sustainable Development Goals for women's empowerment, but also those in relation to decent work, productive inclusion, safety and the elimination of poverty in order to achieve sustainable development.
The delegates also supported the renewal of the Gender Equality Observatory (GEO) for Latin America and the Caribbean, coordinated by ECLAC, and encouraged its use by various government, academic and civil society stakeholders.
Another of the agreements reached during the session was the establishment of a shared regional position in defense of women's rights, with the commitment to uphold it in other regional and international forums.
Similarly, they approved the commitment to promote a transformed cross-cutting gender perspective in all Sustainable Development Goals, which are expected to be approved in September of 2015 by the UN.
Moreover, they moved forward in preparations for the 13th Regional Conference on Women, which will be held in Uruguay from October 25 to 28, 2016.
