CAF strengthens relations with Colombian legislators and officials in a visit to Uruguay
The visit to Uruguay enabled a detailed presentation of CAF's strategies and programs to the Colombian delegation, as well as the establishment of contacts with authorities from State organizations and companies that receive support from the development bank of Latin America
Invited by CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, staff from the Minister of Finance and Public Credit of Colombia, and the members of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission for Public Credit visited Uruguay for four days. The purpose of the trip was to allow the visitors to maintain a direct contact with CAF Executives, and learn first hand about CAF's mission, vision, and priorities, as well as aspects related with the execution and impact of the projects promoted in the southern country with the support of the financial institution.
In this respect, the guests had the opportunity to meet authorities of the state company UTE, electric energy generator and distributor; OSE, responsible for sanitation, water purification and distribution , and the Uruguayan Postal Service.
In addition, they had meetings with leading figures of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the National Customs Direction, the National Corporation for Development, and the Roadway Corporation of Uruguay, as well as with Uruguayan legislators.
Liliana Canale, Corporate Vice-president of Country Programs at CAF, stated that this is an initiative created by the representation offices in Colombia and Uruguay in order to complement the vision that the Colombian counterparts have of CAF, by learning about the experience of other countries with the institution. "I am very pleased with the generation of this space to meet and share information and experiences, to develop a wider vision of CAF's work in the region as well as of the challenges it faces.
At the same time, during the visit to Montevideo, the Uruguayan capital, Colombian parliamentarians and officials received information regarding the economic, social, and environmental aspects included in the programs that CAF implements in the region.
The delegation included Lina María Mondragón Artunduaga, from the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, Chamber Representatives Eduardo Alfonso Crissien Borrero, Germán Alcides Blanco Álvarez and Jaime Enrique Serrano Pérez, and Senators Fernando Eustacio Tamayo Tamayo, Arleth Patricia Casado de López, and Bernardo Miguel Elías Vidal, members of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission of Public Credit.
