Musical leaders from seven countries receive training in management, administration, and leadership in Venezuela
Fifty-seven orchestra and choir Directors participated in the first Training Workshop for Latin American orchestra and choir leaders, organized in the framework of the program "Music to Grow", led by CAF.
A total of 57 orchestra and choir directors from seven Latin American countries were selected to participate in the first training workshop for musical leaders and, until January 29th, they will work on musical, management-administrative, and leadership aspects, together with Fundamusical and the Schola Cantorum of Venezuela.
During 20 days, orchestra and choir directors, center coordinators, and music teachers from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela, will have the opportunity of visiting successful centers in both institutions, meeting key actors in the System's administration, and receive training regarding leadership, thanks to the "Music to Grow "program, led by CAF, Development Bank of Latin America.
The musical leaders were recommended by the local entities that join CAF in this program, and selected by the above mentioned Venezuelan musical institutions. It is expected that with this training they will be able to promote and support social movements in their countries, and improve the institutional management of their local organizations.
José Carrera, Corporate Vice President for Social Development at the Institution, stated, "This type of workshop enables to share successful citizen training experiences and provides education regarding values used by music as a tool for education and inclusion for children and youths in vulnerable conditions".
This first workshop includes the participation of representatives from the Fundación Sistemas de Orquestas Infantiles y Juveniles (Children and Youths Orchestra Systems) and the Escuela de Chascomús (Argentina); the Instituto Coro y Orquestas de Urubichá, and the Coro Santa Cecilia (Bolivia); Social Action for Music and NEOJIBA-Bahia (Brazil); the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogota, and Fundarboledas of Cali (Colombia); the Fundación Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil del Ecuador (Youth Symphonic Orchestra of Ecuador); Sinfonía (Peru); the Fundación Sistema de Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles, and the Coro Ayres (Uruguay).
