Support for the agro-industrial and social development of the Ica Region
CAF signed agreements with the Regional Government of Ica and the ITP, to strengthen the Centro de Innovación Tecnológica Agroindustrial (Agro-industrial Technological Innovation Center), as well as to implement, jointly with Sinfonía por el Perú Symphony for Peru), a musical training nucleus as a tool for social transformation
In the framework of a strategic alliance, CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, subscribed agreements with the Instituto Tecnológico de la Producción (ITP) (Technological Institute of Production), to promote the execution of entrepreneurial innovation projects in the agro-industry of Ica, as well as with the Regional Government of this jurisdiction to implement, jointly with Sinfonía por el Perú (Simphony for Peru), a musical training nucleus as a tool for social transformation in favor of children in the country's southern region.
With Fernando Cillóniz, Governor of Ica, as a witness of honor, Gustavo Ardila, Vice-president of CAF's Productive and Financial Sector, and Fernando Alarcón, Executive Director of the ITP, signed the contract to execute the project to strengthen the innovation and technological transfer services provided by the Centro de Innovación Tecnológica Agroindustrial (Center for Agro-industrial Technological Innovation) (CITE, for its acronym in Spanish).
The agreement will help improve the CITE's technological management, and strengthen the competencies of the institution's technical and professional staff. In addition, it will facilitate the implementation of the technological surveillance and competitive intelligence services for the agro-industry in subjects related to science, technology, and markets.
In the same act, Governor Fernando Cillóniz, CAF's Director Representative in Peru, Eleonora SIlva, and the Executive Director of Sinfonía por el Perú, Miguel Molinari, subscribed the contracts for the implementation of a musical training nucleus in the country's southern region, seeking to promote music as a tool for social transformation and inclusion, aimed at children and youths, with the support of the private sector.
Cillóniz emphasized, "Thanks to the volunteer work of the private sector, as well as CAF's support through the Music to Grow Program, the Inter-institutional Cooperation Agreement, and Symphony for Peru, directed by our renowned tenor Juan Diego Flórez, we expect to initially call one hundred children, who will have the opportunity to play an instrument, train their voices, and demonstrate their art . Through the Regional Government of Ica, we want to promote social responsibility projects that help improve the development of our children and our region".
It should be noted that the signature of these technical cooperation agreements is part of a comprehensive strategy that CAF has in the Ica region, focused on strengthening the productive capacities of SME's while at the same time improving the conditions of the population in general, especially in the social aspect aimed at the education of girls, boys, and youths.
CAF, in alliance with Symphony for Peru, supports this initiative with a significant social impact which seeks to expand at a national level, and is framed within the Music to Grow Program which already has been promoting music for fifteen years, as a tool for social inclusion and the comprehensive education of Latin American children and youths, especially those in vulnerable situation.
