CAF and the Mexican Association of Transportation and Mobility promote the development of the transportation sector in Mexico
The eighth International Transportation Congress will meet in Mexico, D.F., bringing together close to 5,000 professionals from the transportation sector from more than 14 countries, with the objective of improving the public transportation systems and making them more efficient, and promoting comprehensive projects that improve the country's urban mobility.
The event was organized by the Asociación Mexicana de Transporte y Movilidad (AMTM) (Mexican Association of Transportation and Mobility). With the help of CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, it also intends to promote research, the study and analysis of the reality of transportation in Mexico, and suggest solutions to the social, economic, and political problems faced by the municipalities, the federal entities, and the Mexican State as a whole.
The subjects that will be addressed during the meeting include the accessibility of transportation, public policies and more efficient legislation, implications of climate change, public and private financing for tranportation and mobility projects, possible improvements in service management, new proposals for highway safety, and the implementation of new technologies.
During the event there will be keynote speeches, thematic panels, round tables, workshops, guided technical visits, and cultural activities. The AMTM is a civil association connected to the public transportation system of people and goods, and its objective is to contribute to an efficient and safe public service, as well as develop projects, fora, and events aimed at improving and organizing mobility, mainly in the large cities of Mexico.
Among its main activities is to propose and improve the organization, operation, control, and provision of land transportation services in urban centers.
With these types of events, CAF shows its support to the institutional development of its member countries through programs, projects, and meetings that promote transformation and productive diversification, as well as entrepreneurship and innovation, becoming a generator of knowledge that enables the exchange of successful experiences to improve and encourage the development of public policies.
