Economic Perspectives of Latin America in 2016: the role of China
The report Economic Perspectives of Latin America will be presented on Thursday, April 28th in La Paz. This year, the report will analyze the trade links between the region and China
CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will present the report "Economic Perspectives in Latin America 2016: toward a new association with China" in la Paz, Bolivia.
During the event, the challenges and possibilities that Latin America has to strengthen its relations with China will be debated, as well as the influence of the Asian country in the economies of the region and the opportunities arising for coming years. Another subject to be analyzed is the evolution of the economic relations between China and Bolivia, as well as the course of this alliance in the face of the global economic scenario.
The report shows the economic links between Asia and Latin America, focusing on essential areas such as trade, financial flows, competencies, and policies for productive development. It also identifies strategies and public policy responses for Latin America to face its development challenges successfully both in the short and medium-term.
The presentation of the publication will take place at CAF's auditorium at 5:00 p.m., and will include the presentations of Luis Arce, Minister of Economy and Public Finances of Bolivia; Wu Yuanshan, Ambassador of China in Bolivia, and Fernando Cáceres, President of the National Chamber of Commerce.
The presentation of the main content of the report will be in charge of Adriana Arreaza, Director of Macroeconomic Studies at CAF, and Juan Vázquez, Economist of the Development Center at the OECD.
Economic Perspectives of Latin America is the annual report developed by CAF, the OECD, and ECLAC, analyzing the region's economic and social development, and has become a model for the analysis of the continent's macroeconomic trends.
