Enrique García ratifies CAF's support to Bolivia, and participates in the launching of the social brand OUT
The Executive Presdient of the international financial institution ratified the institutional commitment of promoting sustained and quality growth in the country. An example was the presentation of OUT, a brand of knits developed by the women of the penitentiary center of Obrajes, which will enable a balance between wellbeing and productivity for this segment of the population
During his most recent visit to the country, Enrique García, Executive President of CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, met with Evo Morales Ayma, President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, and ratified the financial institution's support for the projects prioritized for the development of Bolivia.
After meeting with President Morales, García highlighted Bolivia's economic growth and ratified the support of the financial institution, main financing source of the country, so that its inhabitants may benefit from sustained and quality growth. He expressed, "In facing the scenario of the global economy, we urge you to deepen investments in subjects such as education and infrastructure, as growth must be productive and must generate employment and opportunities for the majority, all in a framework of greater equity and in a manner that is compatible with the environment".
In addition, he participated in the official presentation of the first collection of OUT, a social brand of knitted products developed by the interns of the Centro de Orientación Femenina de Obrajes (COFO) in the framework of the project Pan de Libertad (Bread of Liberty), which aims at the social and productive reinsertion and improvement in the quality of life of the interns who are co-creators of this business model.
The launching of the brand was carried out in a fashion event that showed the quality of the garments whose marketing benefits the creators and their families in addition to all the women in the penitentiary center through comprehensive health services and activities that promote the psycho-emotional recovery of the interns.
"This CAF social innovation initiative is a clear example of how a development bank does not focus its efforts solely on economic issues or support for infrastructure, but also on promoting human development and the wellbeing of the people, especially those in the most vulnerable sectors such as the case of these women who are deprived of their liberty".
He added that penitentiary centers are very complex environments that generate more problems than solutions and, therefore, it is necessary to find formulas to rescue the self-esteem of the imprisoned population, help them discover a north, and support their future successful social reinsertion. "Bread of freedom and the OUT knits brand seek to improve the quality of life of the women of the COFO by jointly exploring their productive and entrepreneurial dimension based on consensus, generating benefits not only for them but also for their families and the prison community".
