SOMOS evaluates results of third phase in Bolivia, Colombia, and Peru
A year after the third phase of the program started, three schools that are network allies get together again, to make a review of the work carried out in favor of 12,000 boys, girls, and youths
The Academia Cantolao of Peru, the Academia Tahuichi Aguilera of Bolivia, and the Fundación Colombianitos got together in Cartagena de Indias from Tuesday 29th until Thursday 31st of March, to participate in the regional workshop to close the third phase of the SOMOS program, with the objective of presenting the management results and share experiences.
The meeting included 11 participants of allied organizations, who presented the advances of the activities that have been carried out in the different countries and the systematization process of the methodology applied in each organization in the past three years.
This third implementation phase of the program sought to deepen not only the methodological knowledge and the schemes with which sports are taught at a technical level, but also to promote values and develop tools for the lives of boys and girls. This phase focused its activities specifically on strengthening communication skills, team-work, leadership, and conflict resolution. Promoting these four elements in the lives of children and youths through sports practice facilitates the learning process and the use of these values in their daily lives.
The idea behind carrying out a closing regional workshop for this third phase was to promote interaction between the network allies, in addition to maximizing knowledge, reviewing the previous activities, and repeat the successful cases.
For Fundación Colombianitos, in the words of its national coordinator Germán Amortegui: "the closing workshop for Phase III represents the possibility of methodologically enriching our tools, generating a greater recognition for the work done, and specially, show the positive changes that have strengthened the organization by participating in SOMOS".
After ending the workshop, the Academia Tahuichi Aguilera, the Fundación Colombianitos, and the Academia Cantolao, with CAF's support, exemplified team-work and consolidated the proposal to use sports as a key tool for the sustainable development of youths in our region
