CAF and the Uruguayan Postal Service subscribed a loan contract for USD 9.6 million
The public company will allocate the funds to finance the construction of a new plant that will make operations more efficient
CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, granted a loan to the Uruguayan Postal Service for USD 9.6 million that the state company will allocate to the construction of a new plant. The building will help unite the company's operations, which currently use three locations, and increase the efficiency of the services it provides.
The signature ceremony included the participation of Danilo Astori, Minister of Economy and Finance, representing the entity that acts as guarantor of the loan. The Minister expressed his gratitude for CAF's permanent support to operations that contribute to the productive and social development of the country, and congratulated the Uruguayan Postal Service for this important achievement.
Gladis Genua, CAF's Director Representative in Uruguay, stated, "We are particularly interested in supporting the development of logistics in Uruguay, and the construction of this plant will strongly contribute to the growth of the sector".
In addition, she praised the work carried out by the authorities of the Uruguayan Postal Service, and highlighted the importance of promoting projects that help optimize the use of resources. "These types of initiatives are clearly aligned with CAF's vision", she stated.
At the same time, Solange Moreira, President of the Uruguayan Postal Service, highlighted that the new plant will unify processes and, in addition, equipment with unique characteristics in the country will be installed to classify, label, and weigh packages automatically, improving delivery times. She indicated, "Not only the Postal Service, but also Uruguay and our compatriots will benefit from this agreement".
Moreira also expressed her gratitude for CAF's trust, and indicated that the company she leads has made a significant effort to align its finances with its business plan.
The new plant of the Uruguayan Postal Service, which will be located at the Pando Industrial Park, represents a total investment of USD 12 million. The building will have 8,500 square meters for its operational area, and an office sector of 1,600 square meters.
