Alliance to promote Music to Grow in Paraguay

With the purpose of developing the "Music to Grow" Program, an initiative of CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, and confirming our willingness to support, strengthen, and consolidate a System of Orchestras in Paraguay, a strategic alliance agreement was signed between CAF and the Fundación Orquesta de Paraguay (Orchestra Foundation of Paraguay).
A group of Venezuelan teachers from the "System" will travel to Asuncion toward the end of 2016, to support the organizations coordinated by the Fundación Orquesta which has decided to join and strengthen the work that is already in progress.
This is a result of the diagnostic visit carried out by CAF's Direction of Social Sustainability, jointly with renowned maestros of Fundamusical ("The System" of Venezuela) in June, with the purpose of learning about the different musical education projects in place in Paraguay.
We were able to observe how musical leaders take this tool to very low income neighborhoods, where first class instruments are not a concern because they make them, of better quality, with materials recycled from the neighboring garbage dump. We also saw women who take in all the children from a town to offer them food, entertainment, and life tools to keep them away from the streets. In addition, we saw how youths get training in more advanced musical institutions to offer their knowledge to vulnerable schools that work mainly for social inclusion but also place a high value on musical excellence.
For CAF it is important that these projects are socially inclusive, that they are willing to collaborate and work on line to reach a larger number of children and youths seeking high levels of musical excellence.
