Thinking with youths about the solutions they require
The Foros Nacionales (National Fora), organized by the IOJ with the support of the respective secretariats or ministries of youth, are framed within the activities that will guide the construction of the Ibero-American Youth Pact, to be signed in the XXV Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government that will be held on October 28th and 29th, in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
The Under-Secretariat of Youth of Argentina organized the National Youth Forum jointly with the International Youth Organization for Ibero-America (OIJ, for its acronym in Spanish), with the objective of generating scenarios to identify the main problems of youth as well as the respective proposals for solutions.
Christian Asinelli, CAF's Director of Institutional Development, was part of the event "Toward a Pact for Ibero-American Youths". In his welcoming statement, he noted the importance that youths have in the construction of a sustainable development process in Latin America, "you are the protagonists of development" he reminded them. At the same time, he detailed the diverse initiatives that the Institution supports regarding the promotion of young, emerging, and democratic leadership and the essential relationship with the training programs.
In one and a half days of work, which included the participation of different leaders representing the Argentinean youth, a participative and dynamic methodology was established. It consisted of dialogue tables and think tanks to build a new social contract regarding youths. Without any doubts this was a special opportunity to take the subject of youth to the highest political and public level, especially as a result of the commitment acquired by the national competent entity in this matter.
The Pact for Youths is seen as a set of proposals regarding the rights, sustainable development objectives, education, employment, entrepreneurship, participation, innovation, and new cultures that aim at the promotion of equal opportunities and inter-generational social cohesion.
