Bankomunales: access to credit for vulnerable populations
Access to financial services for the most vulnerable populations as a mechanism for their social inclusion is a challenge and an imperative to be resolved.
Access of the most vulnerable populations to financial services as a mechanism for their social inclusion is a challenge and an imperative to be resolved.
From the social innovation initiative, Bankomunales, as a model of self-management savings and loans, have shown their efficiency as an educational tool that provides communities with capacities to respond to their financing needs while at the same time building leadership and social capital.
The Local Groups for Financial Self-Management under which the model operates, are transparent banks in the hands of the community. They develop skills for the management of their own money with high levels of efficiency, and the potential to become a platform for the generation of community development and new opportunities for most.
