Government of Panama awards Enrique Garcia with the Order of “Manuel Amador Guerrero”
The Executive President of CAF - Development Bank of Latin America received the honor for his distinguished trajectory at the head of the organization and contribution to the country's sustainable development.
The Republic of Panama awarded Enrique Garcia, CAF - Development Bank of Latin America's Executive President, the Order of "Manuel Amador Guerrero" with the grade of Great Cross for his leadership, commitment and contribution to the country's development through his work at the head of the multilateral organization.
The award ceremony took place this Thursday, October 13, in the Chapterhouse of the Panamanian Ministry of Foreign Relations, and was presided over by the country's Vice President and Chancellor, Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado.
During the homage, the Vice President highlighted Garcia's career and stressed his firm commitment to education and the training of human capital in Latin America, "areas that we in Panama consider a priority for the development of nations. We are before a global citizen that has undoubtedly made history in the region and has left footprints throughout his life."
Garcia appreciated the recognition, while expressing his great satisfaction regarding the various initiatives in which CAF has participated and which have contributed to the economic and social development of Panama. "For those of us who have been committed for many years to the region's sustainable growth and integration, it is satisfying to see the progress that Panama has achieved in this regard," he stated.
CAF has supported various initiatives in Panama directed at improving the quality of life of Panamanians and increasing the country's competitiveness, including financing for the expansion of the Panama Canal, the construction of the first Metro line of Panama City (capital) and programs of productive empowerment of coffee farmers and of territorial development in provinces such as Chiriquí. In addition, the entity has developed Panama's Logistic Profile for the consolidation of the country as a logistics and services hub at a global level.
The Order of Manuel Amador Guerrero, name of the first President of Panama who lived between 1833 and 1909, was created on October 29, 1953, and consists of four grades: Collar, Grand Cross (the grade received by Garcia), Grand Officer and Commander. It is awarded to members of the national and international community who have a relevant and noteworthy trajectory.
