Paraguay to Foster Technology Patents with Second CAF Workshop
CONACYT, CAF and DINAPI will develop the second training in accelerated development of Technology Patents in Paraguay, under the CAF method. The activity will take place on July 31 to August 4, at the Guaraní hotel with 60 representatives of public and private entities from all over the country.
Sixty representatives of various public and private entities in Paraguay will participate in the second Intensive Workshop for the Development of Technology Patents in Paraguay under the method developed by CAF development bank of Latin America, which has been implemented in various countries and has produced more than 550 technology concepts. The activity will take place on July 31 to August 4 at the Guaraní Hotel.
The 5-day (7:30am-7:30pm) workshop will cover topics such as: the importance of creativity, how the USPTO office functions and how it impacts Paraguay; conceptualization and patentability criteria; problems, challenges, sectors and technologies; prior art studies, among other subjects.
During the workshop opening ceremony Jorge Gärtner, CAF Director-Representative in Paraguay, argued that “these kinds of initiatives aim to increase the capacity for generating more patent applications in Paraguay to be filed domestically and in the United States, for later marketing. This important training effort in conceptualization and filing of patentable technologies in the public and private sectors will benefit Paraguay’s development and income.”
The first edition of this workshop in Paraguay was held in March, training 40 participants and producing 39 technology concepts ready to enter the patenting process at international offices in the coming months, thanks to the agreement signed between CAF and CONACYT, which aims to promote activities and programs in the area of technological Innovation.
The second training in Accelerated Technology Patent Development in Paraguay is organized by CAF development bank of Latin America, in partnership with the National Science and Technology Council (CONACYT), and Paraguay’s National Intellectual Property Directorate (DINAPI).
