Cities with a Future in Latin America should be inclusive, productive, and resilient. This is the premise for discussions that will be held by local and national governments, members of academia, the media, and representatives of international organizations and the private sector during the CAF Conference: Cities with a Future, on November 2 and 3, in Lima, Peru.
The CAF Conference: Cities with a Future aims to challenge the current paradigms regarding interventions in cities by identifying the most effective actions that are currently successfully in some cities of the region, in order to comply with the new guidelines of the New Urban Agenda established last year in Ecuador during Habitat III, and replicate them in other cities. Therefore, the subjects that will be discussed are:
- Inclusion: Exchange of ideas and experiences that will help improve the living conditions of the Latin American population residing in slums, including an effective and comprehensive boost of pro-inclusion policies.
- Resilience: Best practices on how to address the different phases of comprehensive risk management (prevention, emergency attention and reconstruction) for urban management.
- Productivity: Characterization of city growth dynamics, including their sustainability and economic-productive development.
- Financing: Innovative financing mechanisms for urban policies, among others.
- Infrastructure and connectivity: Experiences in the development of infrastructure for the construction of intelligent cities, with an emphasis on improvements to municipal administration, public services and power, mobility and transportation, public safety, as well as education and health.
To discuss the different approaches that contribute to promoting a sustainable urban development in Latin America, the CAF Conference will feature panelists such as: Vice President of Argentina, Gabriela Michetti; Vice President and President of the Council of Ministers of Peru, Mercedes Aráoz; executive president of CAF, Luis Carranza, executive director of UN-Habitat, Joan Clos; President of the Board of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Yolanda Kakabadse; Minister of Housing and Urban Development of Chile, Paulina Saball; Minister of the Executive Department of Housing and Habitat of Paraguay, Soledad Núñez; Minister of Transportation of Argentina, Guillermo Dietrich, Mayor of La Paz, Bolivia, Luis Revilla; Metropolitan Mayor of Lima, Peru, Luis Castañeda; among other leaders in the region.
The CAF Conference: Cities with a future will be transmitted live.
