Paraguay has 33 new specialists in public investment project evaluation
CAF-development bank of Latin America-, the Organization of Ibero-American States and the Central University of Chile are strengthening institutions in Paraguay.
Thirty-three officers form different government agencies received their certificates, after completing their training in design and social evaluation of public investment projects. CAF-development bank of Latin America-, the Organization of Ibero-American States and the Central University of Chile are making great headway in strengthening institutions in Paraguay.
The certificate delivery ceremony was presided by Finance Minister Lea Giménez, with the presence of the director of the Public Investment System (SNIP), Facundo Salinas, CAF Director-Representative Jorge Gärtner, and other authorities.
Minister Giménez stressed that the purpose of the course is for graduates to identify the main notions, techniques and tools around project design and social evaluation, by developing skills for implementation in real-life situations. These actions should be aimed at improving distribution and use of public spending on investment projects, in order to yield the best results on growth, employment and poverty reduction.
In addition, Jorge Gärtner highlighted that this specialized course is part of a broader project, financed by CAF, for strengthening the public investment system, with the purpose of honing the definition of development priorities, supporting institutional coordination and timely design, implementation and monitoring of projects prioritized by the government for the nation.
Graduates of the second cohort represented ANDE, CONACYT, the Supreme Court, the Livestock Fund, the Fund for Excellence in Education and Research (FEEI), the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of National Defense and the Organization of Ibero-American States. After this course, SNIP has trained 1,058 technical staff from 2014 to date.
