Applications for 8th Ibero-American Economic Journalism Award Closing Soon
The first prize for best journalistic piece published in daily press (general daily press, daily economic press) will receive USD 4,000, same as for the first prize for best journalistic piece published in non-daily press (magazines, publications, journals, tv, internet). Prizes will also be awarded to regional media with outstanding performance in spreading economic culture.
January 31 is the deadline for applications for the “IE Business School” 8th Ibero-American Economic Journalism Award, sponsored by CAF—development bank of Latin America—and Iberia, and with the collaboration of CNN, Cinco Días and Casa de América.
The purpose of the award is to acknowledge the best journalistic pieces published in or broadcast by the media (press, magazines, blogs, websites, radio or television) with a view to spreading economic culture in society. The 8th edition will consider especially, although not exclusively, articles on internationalization of Latin American companies, or intra-regional and extra-regional free trade agreements.
The “IE Business School” 8th Ibero-American Economic Journalism Award includes two modalities, each divided into several categories:
(i) Award for best journalistic piece:
- First Prize for best journalistic piece published in daily press (general daily press, economic daily press) including USD 4,000 and a statuette.
- First Prize for best journalistic piece published in non-daily press (magazines, specialized publications, tv, Internet) including USD 4,000 and a statuette.
(ii) Award to regional media outlet with outstanding performance in spreading economic culture.
- Award for best daily regional print medium (general and economic daily press), including a statuette.
- Award for best non-daily print, digital or television medium (magazines, tv, internet) including a statuette.
- Award for best media outlet published or based outside capital cities (regional coverage media in each country)
Journalists and information professionals from the Americas who write in Spanish and/or Portuguese with journalistic pieces published in media based in Latin America may apply. The main goal of the article must be to spread economic culture in society. All pieces must have been published between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018.
