CAF Announces Winners of 3rd International Impact Assessment for Better Public Management Contest

In an effort to provide public officials with the tools they need for better decision making based on impact assessments, CAF launched the 2nd International Impact Assessment Call for a Better Public Management #MejorGestión in 2018.
Winning proposals will receive technical and logistical support for the design and implementation of impact assessments of the highest scientific rigor. These are the 6 winning institutions:
- The Provincial Road Policy and Safety Directorate of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Government submitted a project that aims to improve the license plate issuance process in order to ensure that drivers have the necessary knowledge and skills necessary to drive a motor vehicle, thus reducing the incidence of traffic accidents.
- The Buenos Aires Revenue Agency proposed a project that seeks to assess alternatives to replace real estate and automotive tax payment slips, currently issued in printed form and distributed by mail, with the objective of lowering management costs and relieving the taxpayer.
- A researcher at Chile’s Pontifical Catholic University, in partnership with the Health Department pf the city of Huechuraba, in Santiago, submitted a project that proposes providing personalized and simplified information to patients with chronic diseases. The program is aimed at patients with diabetes or hypertension and consists of delivering the results of periodical control tests in a friendlier format than the records currently employed. The method also contemplates providing advice and relevant information to the patient.
- “Fondo Semilla”, by the Argentine Ministry of Labor and Production’s National Venture Capital Directorate, is a program that provides loans of up to $7,000, as well as training and advice, to entrepreneurs in the initial stages of their start-up through business incubators.
- The Job Skills Certification Service of Peru’s Impulsa Program - working under the Ministry of Labor - is a project whose purpose is to address the issue of low unemployment among the poorest economically active population, through granting an official job skills certification, issued by specialized certification centers.
- Business Development Centers is a program implemented by Chile’s Technical Cooperation Service (SERCOTEC) offering free training and technical assistance to entrepreneurs and SMEs to help them boost their productivity, sales, employment and investment.
