CAF strengthens its relation with China to face key Latin American challenges
CAF's executive president, Luis Carranza, met with high authorities of the Chinese government to strengthen institutional relations and analyze new ways of cooperation that contribute to sustainable development in Latin America
Carranza held working meetings with China's Finance Minister Liu Kun and Vice Minister Zou Jiayi, in which they analyzed the potential for cooperation between
China and Latin America in areas such as infrastructure, productivity, financial connectivity or regional integration.
During the meetings, Chinese officials stressed their strategic interest in CAF, with whom in recent years they have signed several collaboration agreements and have built bridges to promote the exchange of knowledge. In this regard, in the second semester of 2019, CAF, together with ECLAC will hold the II China-LAC Cooperation Seminar for Investment and Commerce in Santiago, Chile.
"China is a key actor for the development of Latin America. That is why we are promoting a relationship that helps generate new ideas to promote interconnection and exchange of best practices, as well as trade and investment in key sectors for development", said Carranza.
During his visit to the Asian country, Carranza also participated as a keynote speaker in the financial connectivity sub-forum, framed in the event on the Silk Road and Belt, organized by China. In this sense, he considered that this initiative has the potential to connect people and share prosperity with an innovative concept, since it meets the demands of developing and developed countries through interconnections at all levels.
