New course to improve financial inclusion standards in Latin America
A new CAF MOOC (massive open online course) will analyze the best mechanisms and public policies to optimize access, use, quality and impact of financial products on society. Additionally, it will offer tools for fostering the financial well-being of families and businesses in Latin America.
The 4-week open online course offered by CAF—development bank of Latin America—will start on May 2 and will focus on the multidimensional nature of financial inclusion, the importance of financial literacy in the development of the region, and on innovation for the design of financial products and services focusing on customers’ needs.
This MOOC is designed for government officials, students, entrepreneurs and other people interested in the matter, and will also discuss policies for financial inclusion based on an analysis of strategies implemented in several Latin American countries and other developing regions.
The course is divided into four theoretical-practical modules:
- The financial sector and the benefits of financial inclusion
- Financial literacy. Success stories in Latin America
- Financial innovation: projects and financial services
- Public policies for financial inclusion

Certificates: At the end of the course and after having completed 75% of each mandatory activity, students will receive a certificate of participation, free of charge. If students wish to receive a completion certificate, they must complete 100% of each mandatory activity and pay 40 euros.
